Information About Artwork
Tree, botanical art, pen and ink, ink painting, surreal art.
A surrealistic botanical drawing of a tree with an illusion of elephant tusks and trunks. This work is a part of the series called Metonymy of Bark & Sinew that explores the similarities between human body parts and nature, or in this case, between elephants and trees.
This contemporary drawing made with pen & ink provides a fun perspective on how trees create illusions with the branches and their structure. It also points out similarities between structures of an elephant trunk and trees, in terms of the folds on the skin and the tree bark. On a serious note, is that the tree in this work looks like a graveyard of tuskers hunted for their majestic tusks. Though the work is open for different interpretations, it prompts the viewer to think about how different things around them can resemble each other and question how different life forms manifest more similarly than they know.
